The Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) Cell of the College has been constituted in accordance with the UGC Guidelines to Provide Equitable Opportunity for the Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) in Higher Educational Institutions (2024). The Cell is committed to ensuring equitable access to quality higher education and creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for students belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups. The Cell works towards safeguarding the constitutional rights, dignity, safety, and well-being of students from disadvantaged backgrounds by facilitating equal access to academic opportunities, welfare schemes, financial assistance, mentoring, counselling, and support services. Objectives
- To ensure equitable access to quality higher education for students belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups.
- To protect the constitutional rights, dignity, safety, and security of SEDGs students.
- To provide academic mentoring, counselling, and socio-emotional support.
- To facilitate access to scholarships, fellowships, financial assistance, reservation benefits, and other Government welfare schemes.
- To organise bridge courses, orientation programmes, remedial coaching, skill development, and outreach activities to enhance student participation and success.
- To create awareness among students, faculty, and staff on issues relating to equity, diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination.
- To coordinate with the Equal Opportunity Cell, SC/ST Cell, Internal Complaints Committee, Grievance Redressal Cell, and other statutory bodies for the effective implementation of policies and welfare measures.
- To receive and address grievances relating to discrimination, exclusion, or denial of opportunities in a fair, transparent, and time-bound manner. (ugc.gov.in)
