Facilities and Support for Students for Differently-abled

The Institution is committed to ensuring an inclusive, accessible, and equitable learning environment in accordance with Government guidelines.

 

Inclusive Admission Policy

  1. Admissions are conducted centrally by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Goa.
  2. No student is denied admission on the basis of disability.
  3. 5% reservation of seats is ensured for PwDs as per Government norms.

 

Barrier-Free Infrastructure

 a. The campus is fully architecturally barrier-free.

 b. Facilities include:

    1. Ramps and user-friendly pathways
    2. Accessibility lifts
    3. Accessible washrooms
    4. Tactile pavements for visually impaired students

 

Assistive Devices and Learning Support

 a. The following facilities are available:

    1. Wheelchairs
    2. Magnifying lenses
    3. User-friendly keyboards
    4. Headphones

 b. NVDA (Non-Visual Desktop Access) software is installed on all computers.

 c. Book Bank facility is available for PwD students.

 

Smart Learning Environment

  1. All classrooms are equipped with smart boards to facilitate interactive and inclusive teaching through electronic media.

 

Scholarships and Financial Support

  1. Students benefit from the Post-Matric Scholarship for PwDs.
  2. Financial assistance is provided as per Government schemes.

 

Examination Support

  1. Provision of scribe/reader/lab assistant services.
  2. Extra time is provided during examinations, as per Ordinances.
  3. No additional fee is charged for availing these facilities.

 

Academic and Classroom Support

 a. Inclusive classroom practices include:

    1. Appropriate seating arrangements
    2. Assistive devices
    3. Academic support to ensure equal participation

 

Training and Awareness

 a. Faculty members are trained through workshops and programmes conducted by the Directorate of Higher Education on:

    1. Inclusive education practices
    2. Implementation of disability rights provisions

 

Transport and Placement Support

  1. Free transport facility is provided to students with disabilities within the town (at feasible places).
  2. Efforts are made to promote placement opportunities for PwD students.
